How to Fish Island 2: Forest Island Walkthrough

The full loop is short once you know the order. Most players stall in one of two places: hunting Leeches in the wrong way, or leaving the boss arena without the quest trophy. Use this table as a checklist before you sail.

Island 2 is not open from the start. Before you can sail to it, you need to complete the Spider Crab quest chain in the starting area around the Lighthouse, which is covered in our Island 1 page and the main walkthrough. That quest line pays out two key items: the Boat Keys and the Radar. Together they open up real travel on the water.

With both items in hand, head northwest from the Lighthouse. Island 2 is the Forest island in that direction — a wooded landmass with a lake at its heart, which is a clear visual break from the starting shoreline. There is no level gate or fee beyond the quest requirement; if the island is not appearing for you, the missing piece is almost always an unfinished step of the Spider Crab chain rather than anything on the island itself.

Island 2 is the point where the shop starts stocking noticeably better bait, and it is also where the first firearms become available. Walkthrough sources strongly recommend prioritizing your savings toward the Shotgun before anything else, because the island's boss fight is built around you having real firepower. The Shotgun sells for around $150 — check the live in-game shop, since prices can shift between patches.

While you are spending, also stock up on healing. Anything edible or cooked that restores health is worth carrying, because the boss fight ahead is a war of attrition with extra enemies in the mix. Progress on Island 2 runs through a female NPC standing by the lake. Talk to her first — this activates the quest and starts a 0/3 counter. Only then should you go looking for Leeches, which spawn as pickups lying on the ground in the grass and along the lakeshore.

The single most important thing to know: Leeches are not fish. You do not catch them with a rod, you do not need to buy a new rod, and casting into the water over and over will never produce one. Walk the grass and the waterline on foot and pick up all 3, then return to the NPC. She converts them into the quest bait used for the boss. Most guides call the converted bait the Modified Leech, while one walkthrough names it Father's Favorite Bait after the quest dialogue — either way, look for the new bait item in your inventory. If you search the ground and find no Leeches at all, treat it as a possible spawn bug rather than hunting invented locations.

With the quest bait in hand, equip it and cast into the lake. This is what summons the Giant Piranha, Island 2's progression boss — it does not appear through normal fishing with ordinary bait.

The fight has two layers. The Giant Piranha itself is the main target, but it arrives with a pack of small Piranhas that will swarm you while you work. The loadout sources recommend is the Shotgun you saved for, a melee option for clearing the small Piranhas efficiently, and a stack of edible or cooked healing items so you can recover mid-fight. Focus the adds down when they pile up rather than tunnel-visioning the boss.

Killing the Giant Piranha is only half of the island's progression step. When it goes down, it drops a distinctive quest trophy, and you must physically pick it up and carry it back to the lakeside NPC. If you only get the kill and walk away, the next step will not unlock.

The trophy is the Giant Piranha Skeleton — only one guide loosely calls it a meat chunk — and it is unmistakable as the boss's unique drop.

Hand the trophy to the NPC and she rewards you with the coordinates for Island 3, which is the real prize of the whole island. From there you can continue the chain on our Island 3 page, or zoom out to the full route on the islands overview.

Most stalled Island 2 runs come down to one of these:

• Casting into the lake trying to fish up Leeches. They are ground pickups in the grass and along the shore, and the quest counter only starts after you speak to the NPC.
• Spending early island money on everything except the Shotgun, then hitting the boss under-equipped.
• Summoning the boss with no healing food and no plan for the small Piranha adds.
• Leaving the arena after the kill without picking up the boss trophy — the kill alone unlocks nothing.
• Waiting on a Leech respawn; if none have spawned, treat it as a possible bug instead of searching made-up spots.

Clear those five and Island 2 is a fast, clean stop on the way to the later islands.
